Gail Salvatori is a long time Chicago based musician, who over the
years has worn 'many different hats' in the music field. As a
freelance violinist, she played on over 100 TV and radio commercials
and CDs, for groups such as Mannheim Steamroller, and played
for
artists who perform in chicago, such as Frank Sinatra, Jr., Ray
Charles, and Tony Bennet. She was part of the Ballet Chicago
Orchestra for five years, and played for the Joffrey
Ballet's
'Nutcracker' for many years.
As a pianist, she has accompanied several choirs for various high
schools in the area, and has worked for church music programs for over
20 years.
As an educator, she has taught private violin, piano, and viola lessons
for over 30 years, and has worked at Timothy
Christian Schools for the
past eight years as the orchestra director, working with four
orchestras of various age levels each year.
It was working as an educator that allowed Ms. Salvatori to explore
arranging music to meet the needs of her students. There was
a need for young violists to have a collection of Christmas
carols at the high school level, that could be used in
various holiday events, so this project became one of importance as she
worked to provide this collection for her students.
It is the arrangers' hope that these carols will be enjoyed by those
who play them, and that the meditations that go with each carol will
help bring a sense of spiritual refreshment in what can become a busy
season of the
year.
